Book Review: Little Fires Everywhere @pronounced_ing @penguinpress #MomsWhoRead #Book #BookReview #Reading #BookWorm #ReadMe

Hulu is turning Little Fires Everywhere into a show.  I read Ng’s other book and I didn’t particularly care for it, but everyone said this book was the ish.  OH!  THEY ARE RIGHT!!!

LittleFiresEverywhere

So the book starts with the Richardson’s house on fire.  Not too ominous…except their youngest daughter did it.  Oh yes…it’s addictive right from the get go.  So we start off with a bang and go backwards so we can see what leads the youngest daughter up to setting their house on fire.

The Richardson’s live in Shaker Heights, which is essentially like the perfect Suburbia.  The mother rents out a property they own very cheaply as a means to help those just trying to get by.  Here is where we meet Mia, a starving artist who has moved her way around the country.  Mia ends up working for the Richardson family and her daughter befriends the Richardson children.

Oh. The. Drama.  The children, the adults, the town…oh man.  Every page that turns there’s another little bit of a secret going around and one we get to find out.  What kills me is that when everything blows up…it’s really a case of miscommunication.  I may have been yelling at the characters throughout the book…I really got into this one!

I really enjoyed how we started off knowing the end and we worked our way backwards.  Just how could all of this lead up to a fire.  Why?  Oh…you’ll get those answers.  I honestly think this will make for a GREAT show on Hulu and I cannot wait to watch it.

Amazing 4 star read.  You just get caught up in the drama and as each chapter is told through different points of view you keep reading and reading and reading to see how it all connects.  This one tugged at my heartstrings a lot.  I may have had a tear in my eye at one point in time.  Because in all of the Richardson family drama, the mother’s best friend has her own adoption drama.  Yes…drama all around!  You MUST read this book!!  Have you read this one??

  1. Great review! I read this with my book group last year, and the discussion was terrific. I hadn’t heard about the Hulu show, so thanks for the news! I’ll be watching for sure.

    1. This book has a LOT to talk about! I’m hoping since it will be a mini series there will be a lot adapted from the book itself since they’ll have more time to play everything out!
