Book Review: The Flatshare @OLearyBeth @MacmillanUSA @Flatironbooks #Contemporary #ChickLit #RomCom #BookWorm #ReadThisNow #ReadMe #5stars

Thank you for all of your amazing reviews on The Flatshare, I have finally read it myself.  What took me so long?!

Tiffy.  She is down on her luck and needs to move out of her ex-boyfriends place.  She now owes her ex-boyfriend back rent because he felt like she was taking advantage of him.  She has to find a place for CHEAP so she can get out of his manipulating hair.

Leon.  He works nights, sleep days, and spends the weekend with his girlfriend.  He needs extra money to cover his brother’s lawyer.  He comes up with the brilliant idea to sublease his place to someone who works a 9 to 5 job.

The book is told from their two points of view.  Tiffy answers the ad and meets Leon’s girlfriend who sets everything up.  How weird is it that Tiffy and Leon share a place and have never met?!

This was a fun and uplifting read.  I loved how O’Leary gave Leon a very distinct voice, it was easy to picture him and his thought process.  The same can be said for how she wrote Tiffy.  This has a Eleanor Oliphant vibe to it, except better.  The romance aspect to this book doesn’t start until just after a third of the way through and by that time so you’re hooked on Tiffy and Leon as characters that you’re like, let’s roll with what is happening!

5 freaking stars!  I want to gush about everything that was in this book, but I don’t want to spoil it for you.  The penmanship and careful consideration for each of these characters is unreal.  I felt as it this was a real story and I was hearing it from both parties.  I really got to know each of these characters and their quirks!  Absolutely one of the best books this year!  I thank my local library for having a few copies of this book on hand so I did not have to wait long for my turn with it!  Thankfully I only had it 3 days so the next person can dive on in!  Get this book NOW!
