I came across this at Flowers In The Brain blog and decided to go ahead and do this one too!

What is the best book you have read so far in 2020?

What unfortunate timing, I SHOULD have read this in 2019, but it was released around the time I went back to work and things got crazy so reading took a place on the back burner…this is the first book I finished in 2020!

What is the best sequel you have read so far in 2020?

What is a new release that you haven’t read yet but want to?

It’s sitting on my shelf…it’s at this point in time work is cramping my style!

Poignant, I branched out with this one and was shocked at how much I loved it!

Holly Jackson, I cannot wait to read more from her!!

Who is your new fictional crush? None…this is one thing that I can’t get into…

What books made you cry? I’ve had tears, but I have not cried at any books this year…

What is one book that made you happy?

What is the most beautiful book you have bought or received so far this year? None…to be fair, I don’t keep my books, I pass them around to friends and family and then donate them at a Little Free Library!

What books do you need to read by the end of the year?

Saturday For The Kids

My daughter was at it again. For the first time she was EMBARRASSED to make a review for one of the books!! She thought the book was “babyish” and thought kids would make fun of her for it. I told her, who cares?!?!? So in her review she made sure to say it was perfect for kids in Kindergarten, haha. Apparently I still have things to teach her when it comes to reading!!

Sunday For The Kids

My daughter did a sneak attack and wanted to make a quick video on a fun book we read, so as a good Mom I squeezed her in here!

We read Llama Destroys The World by Jonathan Stutzman. It was adorable, a great book for kids in grades K-2. I enjoyed it!

Random Saturday: Face Wash Challenge

I came across this in a post where someone was starting the 60 second wash face challenge. This is quite a simple challenge…you wash for face for 60 seconds at a time for 30 days!

Easy right?

No…

So, I started by buying face wash…I know, I know, but I don’t wear make up so I’ve never really thought I needed it before. I have been noticing some fine lines appearing so I’ve been wanting to take care of my face. I bought…

Charcoal is supposed to be all the rage, get a good clean face, so it can’t be bad right? WRONG! My face started to BURN immediately…I thought, maybe that means it’s working?? I went on for 60 seconds and washed my face…I would give this a second chance…same thing, crazy burn and now my cheeks are red, RED. A quick Google search and I learned that’s NOT good.

I guess some people have a reaction to the charcoal and I’m one of them. Oh well.

So after my skin calmed down I tried this next…

Something that hydrates sounded promising…I only used this ONE time. My face dried out HORRIBLY! I got 2 dry skin spots just below my mouth. No amount of moisturizer was helping!! So…then I tried this…

Yes, that says rapid wrinkle repair…AND I got the rapid repair cream to go with it…guess what…so far, so good!

I think what started this all off was purchasing a jade face roller. I will admit, it probably does nothing, but it still feels sooooo good to roll it on my face. It’s nice and cool and just gives you a refreshing boost.

I know this is a little (ok, WAY) off topic, but sometimes we need a little break. Let me know if you’ve done any challenges like this with face washing or anything! They’re fun to do! I’ll try and remember and check back in again in a month and see if I can notice a difference in my face or just how I feel!

Summer Reading Challenge

My local library has started something NEW this summer…their first all virtual summer reading challenge! I am very excited because there is an ADULT category!! YAY!

Their challenge is simple…every 5 hours you read you earn a ticket into a drawing. For adults there is one prize, a $25 Target gift card. Kids can choose between multiple prize packs (my daughter has her eye on entering the iPad prize). It’s a neat way to encourage reading from now until July 31st! (School goes back in session in early August here.)

This year they even have an app I’ve downloaded to my phone that I can keep track of books read easily! My goal is to complete the max amount of hours for adults (100 hours or 6000 minutes). Currently I’m 1/3 of the way there!!

–Do you keep a list of the books you’ve read?: I keep track of everything I read on Goodreads. If you want to be my friend just leave a comment and we can add each other. I don’t keep track any other way, this is just the easiest way for me!

–If you record statistics, which ones do you record?: I don’t record stats. I used to do monthly stats, but it was only in a blog post and well, I started to read a lot and then not a lot so I don’t even do monthly recap posts anymore!

–Do you give star ratings for books and if so, what do you score books out of and how do you come about this score?: I do a scale of 1 to 5…5 is when I can’t stop raving about it. 4 is for books I really enjoy and life. 3 are for books that are meh, if you come across it, pick it up, don’t seek the book out to read it. 2 is for…what did I just read, this was horrific. 1 I reserve for books I can’t get through.

–Do you review books?: Every book I read! I have so much fun spreading the joy of reading!!! Sometimes I throw a mini review up on Instagram too!

–Where do you put your finished books?: Into the hands of others…I pass them around at work and then I pass them to my family and they in turn pass them along. I rarely, rarely keep books. I don’t find any joy in re-reading books as I already know how they end up (I rarely re-watch movies or TV shows too).

-Do you have any other rituals for when you’ve finished reading?: I log in to Goodreads and hit that finished button! It feels SO GOOD!!!!
