This week’s prompt is…

Six Characters I’d Like To Be Stranded With

Lara Jean: To All The Boys I’ve Love Before star…I would LOVE to chat with her. She seems so wise beyond her years and would be a fun person to just be around.

Will Robie: From the mastermind of David Baldacci, I feel like Robie would be able to get us unstranded. He’s resourceful and I feel like he would protect me and keep me safe.

Pepper: She starred in Tweet Cute and was a riot. I would count on her to be live tweeting our predicament and we’d at least become viral sensations out of our adventure.

Jen Dixon: MY INNER SPIRIT ANIMAL!!!! She takes center stage in the Class Mom series by Laurie Gelman and would be me if I was a class mom. She is a RIOT. I feel like she would bring some wine and we’d be all set!

Princess Samantha: One of the main characters from American Royals by Katharine McGee…and well duh, it’s because she’s a freakin’ princess. Also, I love how she’s friends with a lowly citizen/non-royal and she just seems cool.

Daisy Jones: Oh the stories I bet she would tell! I would like to be stranded with the older Daisy, the one who isn’t doing drugs anymore, FYI, haha, I felt I needed to mention that right quick.

Who would you want to be stranded with if you could??

Six Favorite Authors To Follow

Elin Hilderbrand: She is a must read, must buy obsession for me. I am slowly but surely gathering all her works and reading them. You can count on as soon as pre-order is available for her upcoming book, I’m on the list!! Most of her books are set in Nantucket and are the PERFECT beach reads!! Currently I’m obsessing over her Paradise trilogy and impatiently waiting for October to arrive so I can have some closure on what is happening!!!!

Teresa Driscoll: I. Love. Her. She writes the most amazing psychological thrillers and if you love thrillers and have not heard of her, you won’t regret checking her out. She’s also written domestic dramas that I will be checking out soon!

David Baldacci: He is a family love. I am sure you have heard of him and everyone in my family reads him. I have my Dad’s huge box of his reads and am making my way through them. He is an auto-read in my family for sure!

DJ Palmer: I became obsessed with DJ Palmer after Saving Meghan. I finished The New Husband last week (look for that review closer to the April publishing date) and I am officially obsessed. His books just suck you in!!

Sandie Jones: I feel a special bond with Sandie Jones as I have been honored to receive an advanced copy of all her books. I even mistakenly have my name in her thank yous in The First Mistake as just “Donna” because…well…I’m dumb. *sigh* She pens great thrillers and has you guessing until the end!!

Ruth Ware: Can you tell I love mysteries/thrillers? She is another great thrilling writer and I have adored every book I’ve read by her!

Who are you favorite authors??

Six Reasons I Love Blogging

1. I love sharing the books I love (& even those I don’t care for) with everyone!! It is so much fun to talk about the books and then discuss them further with you all!

2. I love reading all of YOUR posts. This is how I usually discover the books that I read (which is awesome because they’ve all been vetted through you, hence the majority of 4-5 star books that I read)!

3. It gives me an outlet, something to look forward to. It helps to keep me motivated to read at least a book a week…I need content, don’t I? Haha.

4. The community. I feel like I’m part of something special. Even though I don’t know any of you in real life, it just feels special. I love celebrating your highs and being there for you when you have a low. Just know I’m always keeping tabs on all of you!

5. Reading original works of others. I have a dream of one day writing a novel and reading your works in progress, seeing you so vulnerable, gives me the confidence that I can do that too (one day). Keep on writing!

I tried to get 6 this week, but I got to 5 and got stuck!! What is your favorite thing about blogging??

Potential Book Ban Law In Missouri #Law #BookBan #Library #PublicLibrary

This article talks all about a potential new law that Missouri has on the table…the Parental Oversight of Public Libraries Act or House Bill 2044.  What this law wants to do is to allow towns to establish a parental advisory board.  The board would consist of 5 community members, voted in, and librarians would not be allowed on the committee, even if they are community members themselves.

They would look at books and determine if they had age-inappropriate sexual content and then if the board decided yes, would ban them from their public library.  My opinion?  What a scary, slippery slope…

I get it, there are topics out there that are controversial and not everyone wants to read about…so…don’t.  If a book doesn’t interest you, don’t read it.  It’s that simple.  Just because I do not want to read a book that has certain content doesn’t mean that you don’t want to…and personally it’s your right to be able to read the book.  The public library is a place for EVERYONE.  Just because someone doesn’t want to read a book, does not mean that someone else in the community might not want to.  That’s what makes the world go round.

If parents are that worried on content their children might read, it’s simple.  Go with them to the library and simply review the book the wish to check out.  Ask the librarian about the content within the book if you aren’t 100% sure.  I just feel like this law could open up the door for other book banning ways…if librarians go against this law they could face up to a a year in jail.  If a library also allows a minor to access a book with “age-inappropriate” sexual content, they could be stripped of their funding.  Again, review what your children want to check out, it is as simple as that.

Book bans are something I have never understood as the solution to the problem is simple…don’t read the book, don’t buy the book, don’t buy any works by the author you don’t agree with…done.

What are your thoughts about this potential new law????
