I **LOVE** Little Free Libraries and adore that it made an appearance in this book!!  It doesn’t bother me what kind of shape a book is in as long as I can read it!  I can totally relate to Elsie in this quote…I love finding the odd freebie from these libraries as opposed to buying brand new!  I always feel like someone put a book in these that they loved and want to share with others…Elsie, I get you girl!!  Do you have any Little Free Libraries around you??

Book Review: My Lovely Wife @smariedowning @BerkleyPub #5stars #Thriller #Suspense #MustRead #MomsWhoRead #BookWorm

Honestly, my fellow book bloggers, where have you been all my life???  Thanks to all of your reviews of this one, I picked it up.  Let me just out by saying, 5 stars, and I think that all of my friends are potential serial killers now…

MyLovelyWife

Reviews don’t lie.  This book has a TON of them.  It is a MUST read, especially for all my thriller fans.  Let me just say that I did not see the twists and turns this book took coming at me.  Woah.

Something that is peculiar…we never find out the husband’s name (our narrator) at any time in this book.  How bizarre.  Does it really matter though?  He and his wife take on killing random women for sport…oh, don’t worry, it all started by accident.  Once they did one, they couldn’t stop.  They stalk and find the perfect victims and even try to imitate a serial killer that once terrorized the town.

I didn’t find this book to be scary.  I did find it has me questioning everyone around me, haha.  I truly could not figure out the mystery of everything going on.  The husband let the wife take control of most of the killings and guys…she is batshat crazy.  I mean, I get it to be a serial killer you kinda have to be, but she takes it up a notch and we get to see her true colors at the end of the novel.

I already said this is a 5 star read.  I loved how the story played out and I found myself holding my breath at the end to see what would happen.  I loved the pace and the interaction between the husband and wife.  I highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend this book to everyone.  This will be one you’ll be talking about even months after you read it…it will stay with you!  Have you read this one?  What did you think?

Top Ten Tuesday: August 27th #ReadingLibrary #Library #Books #BookWorm #ReadMe #BookBlog #TTT

It’s Tuesday which means it’s time for another TTT courtesy of That Artsy Reader Girl! This week’s topic is…

Books I’ve Read That I’d Like In My Personal Library

I am not a person who keeps books on my shelves.  After I read a book I pass it along to my reading circle and then I donate it.  There are so many books that I have read via Netgalley, my Kindle, or on loan from my local library that I wish I could pass around my reading circle…so here they are!

LovelyLittleThings

iamwatchingyou

NOS4A2

McAvoySisters

MyLovelyWife

Montauk

thingsyousaveinafire

TheTurnOfTheKey

SunsetBeach

TheChristmasWish

Those are the 10 I wish I had my possession to pass around my reading circle!!  Don’t worry, I have raved about these books to my reading circle and some of them have picked a few of these up!  Of course it’s easier when it’s handed to you, haha, but hey, reading can be a costly habit!!!  What are some books of yours that you’ve borrowed or have in a means that you’d love to be able to pass around to your friends and family??

Book Review: The Truth Behind The Lie @Netgalley #SwedishLit #Crime #Kidnapping #Mystery

Thank you to Netgalley and Minotaur Books for the advance reader copy of The Truth Behind The Lie!  This book is scheduled to be released TOMORROW!

TheTruthBehindTheLie

This book was a little weird.  It was just ok.  Pernilla hires a private investigator to try and find her daughter that has been kidnapped.  She refuses to consult with the police and Kouplan, our PI, is desperate for money so he takes the case.  What she doesn’t realize is that Kouplan is in the country illegally and has never investigated anything before.

I am never one who can predict books easily, but I had this whole book figured out from the beginning.  It’s highly predictable and left little to be desired for since I essentially figured everything out early on…I just kept reading for confirm my thoughts were correct.  It didn’t make reading this one very enjoyable.

There’s not much more I can say about this book without giving too much away.  It’s quite a tale of Kouplan trying to locate Pernilla’s missing daughter.  From the beginning things feel off and not quite right.  Kouplan almost doesn’t know if he should investigating the case or not.  Eventually all comes to light at the end…

This was a 3 star read for me.  I don’t think I would recommend this to any of my friends as they usually are able to predict books MUCH better than I am.  If I could predict this one…that’s saying something!  I was so disappointed in this one!  Have you read any books that disappointed you lately because you were able to figure it out so easily??

Amazon & The Kindle: Part 5 Kindle Unlimited #Amazon #Kindle #KU #Ebooks #KindleUnlimited

Here are we are to Part 5 of my Amazon & The Kindle series!  I hope you are enjoying all of this information week in and and week out.  After this part, there is only one more part to my series left!

Kindle Unlimited

KU-LandingPage_cancel

Personally, I do not subscribe the $9.99 a month to Kindle Unlimited.  I have a crazy huge Kindle library thanks to Amazon & The Kindle: Part 4 #FreeNewsletters and my local library with the Libby/Overdrive app (to be featured NEXT WEEK), so I would probably never read enough to justify the $9.99 a month!  It does not mean it won’t be worth it for you!

You can browse books in the Kindle store and if you see Kindle Unlimited above the book title it means it is within the Kindle Unlimited library.  Essentially you are paying $9.99 a month for the ability to borrow up to 10 books at a time.  You do not get to keep them and once you stop paying the monthly fee you lose access to all of those books.

They offer a 30 day free trial so you can try it before you start to commit to it.  Authors get paid by the pages you read, so that is how they make their money when they offer their books to the Kindle Unlimited library.  A few times a year Amazon will offer a 3 month subscription for 99 cents and that’s an even BETTER deal.  They just had this offering a few weeks ago so in another few months (probably around Black Friday) I would assume they’ll be offering it again!

Are you a member of Kindle Unlimited?  Do you enjoy it?  Any other questions?  Reach out and I will do my best to answer them!  I hope this helped you decide if Kindle Unlimited could be right for you!  Next Sunday will be my last installment of my Amazon & The Kindle Series, Your Local Library & Your Kindle.  This will be an absolutely amazing discovery if you did not already know how much your local library can offer with Kindle!!!!!

Top Of The TBR: August 24th #WishList #TBR #WantToRead

I stumbled across this thanks to Literary Elephant.  I love this idea and I’m jumping on board!!  Here is her description of Top Of The TBR (TBR by the way, for those who may not know, means To Be Read)…

But what is Top of the TBR? Good question. It’s a weekly post that will showcase any new books I’ve added to my Goodreads TBR recently, with a short explanation of why each title caught my interest. I’ll aim for 5-10 books per post; in weeks that I’ve added more than that, I’ll hold some back, and in weeks that I don’t have enough, I’ll include titles I haven’t discussed yet. Each title will be linked back to its Goodreads page for anyone interested in exploring further, as I’m not a fan of copy/pasting synopses. Anyone who wants to take part in this series with me is absolutely welcome! Please link back to any of my Top of the TBR posts so I can see what you’re reading!

Can you believe I have only added ONE book to my TBR list since last week?!?!?  THE RESTRAINT!!!!!!!!!!

StolenThings

Here’s the synopsis…

When a 911 dispatcher picks up an emergency call to hear her daughter on the line, her worst nightmare becomes reality.

Laurie Ahmadi has worked as a 911 police dispatcher in her quiet Northern California town for almost two decades, but nothing in her nearly twenty years of experience could prepare her for the worst call of her career—her teenage daughter, Jojo, is on the other end of the line. She is drugged, disoriented, and in pain, and even though the whole police department springs into action, there is nothing Laurie can do to help.

Jojo, who has been sexually assaulted, doesn’t remember how she ended up at the home of Kevin Leeds, a pro football player famous for his work with the Citizens Against Police Brutality movement, though she insists he would never hurt her. And she has no idea where her best friend, Harper, who was with her earlier in the evening, could be.

As Jojo and Laurie begin digging into Harper’s private messages on social media to look for clues to her whereabouts, they uncover a conspiracy far bigger than they ever could have imagined. With Kevin’s freedom on the line and the chances of finding Harper unharmed slipping away, Laurie and Jojo begin to realize that they can’t trust anyone to find Harper except themselves, not even the police department they’ve long considered family . . . and time is running out.

I mean, how could you NOT put this on your TBR list!!  What books have you added to your want to read piles?!

I chose this quote for 2 reasons…one, it shows how jaded some people can get.  They don’t see the good in in others, they just believe everyone is out there to stab people in the back.  The other reason is sometimes it is good to be cautious when working and dealing with other people…especially if you don’t know the person that well.  There are many people out there who DO take advantage of others…

What quotes have stayed with you lately?

Book Review: Summer Of ’69 @ElinHilderbrand @littlebrown #SummerRead #MomsWhoRead #BookWorm #Fiction #Bibliophile #HistoricalFiction

I was on a huge waiting list for this at my local library.  I made the comment about that as my husband and I walked through Costco one day and he threw it in the cart and said…now you don’t have to wait!  What a keeper!

Summerof69

This was a book that required my complete attention to read.  It is told through numerous viewpoints of the Levin family during the summer of 1969.  The son gets deployed to war which sends the mother to drown her sorrows with alcohol.  Her mother is not a huge fan of her current husband and he hates to come and visit on weekends while the family spend the summer in Nantucket.  One sister is living in Boston while pregnant with twins and the other sister has decided to spend her summer working in Martha’s Vineyard.  Lastly, the baby of the family, thirteen year old Jessie, seeks to find her own identity.  It is a tumultuous time for the Levin family…family secrets are hidden only to be discovered as the summer wears on.  For Hilderbrand’s first stab at historical fiction, it’s a great one.

Hilderbrand makes sure to use some era appropriate events.  After I read about Ted Kennedy and his car crash I had to google it and find that how Hilderbrand portrayed it, is how it happened.  She did not leave a detail unturned!

This is a lovely summer/beach read.  It didn’t have her signature love affair theme, but it was a nice change of pace!  This was just an enjoyable book about a family.  It just goes to show you that a family can have all the money in the world and still have problems within itself.

I am going to give this a 4 star read.  I wish the ending had more substance to it.  It was nice to see how it ended, but I just wanted a little more.  I don’t want to give anything way so I can’t detail what exactly I wanted, but you’ll understand once you pick this up.  Highly recommend this one!  Have you read it?  What did you think?
